CASPER, Wyo. —In late May, former President Donald Trump will appear at a “Save America” rally in Casper to support Liz Cheney challenger, Harriet Hageman.
The event will take place on May 28 at 4 p.m. in the Ford Center, according to Trump’s website.
Trump has endorsed Republican Harriet Hageman in her GOP primary race campaign against U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney for Wyoming’s lone U.S. House seat.
“It will be a tremendous honor and incredibly exciting to have President Trump visit with us and it will no doubt be the largest political event in Wyoming history,” said Hageman in a statement. “I am grateful for President Trump’s support in my campaign and I look forward to seeing him in Casper.”
Cheney voted to impeach Trump after the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
“Unlike RINO Liz Cheney, Harriet is all in for America first. Harriet has my complete and total endorsement in replacing the Democrat’s number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney,” said Trump in September. “RINO” is an acronym for “Republican in name only.”
Former President Donald Trump established the Save America political action committee in November 2020, just days after he lost the presidential election to Joe Biden.
Save America is a so-called leadership PAC, which is a committee often formed by members of Congress or other political figures to support other candidates for federal and nonfederal offices.
According to factcheck.org, Save America says it is about “building on” the accomplishments of the Trump administration while “supporting the brave conservatives who will define the future of the America First Movement,” the Republican Party and the country. The “Save America” slogan has appeared to replace Trump’s famous phrase “Make America Great Again,” which he coined on the 2016 campaign trail.
