TETON VILLAGE, WYO – Legendary DJ, producer, and bona fide house music icon Mark Farina pioneered the “mushroom jazz” subgenre of electronic music, a series of eight volumes that he launched in 1996. A seamless, downtempo approach to mixing jazz, house and hip-hop, Mushroom Jazz grew from a local residency to global gigs over the last three decades. Farina began in Chicago at age fifteen before playing a major role in building San Francisco’s house music scene.
Joining Farina with their unique disco infused bass house vibes, The Sponges are coming in hot off playing recent sets at Splash House and Sonic Bloom. Blending classic scrunchy-faced funk with next level bass house production, The Sponges have carved their own lane in electronic music, having gained support from artists such as GRiZ, Zeds Dead, Tchami, AC Slater, The Floozies, Manic Focus and Jauz. Due to their deep-rooted love for hippie fests and nightclub debauchery, the duo’s mission has always been to blend sounds, bend bodies, and deliver the most fun and energetic listening experiences to audiences.
Local guests DJ Echo & DJ Crayon will open the show.
Mark Farina & The Stooges at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village. $29. MangyMoose.com.
