JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson, in partnership with Jorgensen Associates and Three Elephant Public Relations, will host a planning and design open house for the Gregory Lane project on Tuesday, March 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Colter Elementary School. Residents will have the opportunity to share feedback on the design concepts.
In 2019, $8.5 million in SPET funding was allocated to the Gregory Lane project to address street, stormwater and sewer infrastructure, as well as the construction of a safe route to school.
According to the Town of Jackson, the funding will acquire land to widen the lane and driveway approaches, obtain easements, plan, engineer, design and construct needed areas safety, sidewalks, vehicle access and snow/stormwater drainage.
A 2022 Teton County School District (TCSD) No. 1 Board of Trustees letter emphasized the importance of the Gregory Lane project to the Jackson Town Council.
“There are currently 85 TCSD students that live on Gregory Lane in grades kindergarten through 12,” read the letter to the town leadership. “It is too dangerous for students to walk to school on this narrow, winding road that serves numerous industrial purposes.”
Jackson Town Manager Larry Pardee said the area along Gregory Lane was “one of the most distressed areas” in Jackson as he lobbied for the SPET ballot initiative to pass in 2019.
Assistant Public Works Director Johnny Ziem hopes to complete the project in the summer of 2025.
“We have always had Gregory Lane set in fiscal year 2024,” Ziem said via the Construction Journal. “Hopefully in two years it will be completed. It will be a big project, and we’ll maybe get 80% of the project finished in one construction season.”
