JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s close to midnight, and something evil’s lurking in the dark. Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart…

That’s right, Halloween lovers. It’s that time again — Thriller Time!

A tradition that began in 2008, Dancers’ Workshop is delighted to once again offer this workshop on the classic moves to the King of Pop’s spine-tingling song. Friday, October 29 — from 7 to 9 p.m. — join instructor Amy Kingwill from Dancers’ Workshop to learn all of the steps to Thriller. Then, once you’ve got the moves down, the group will venture out to a handful of locations in downtown Jackson and surprise unsuspecting folks with a flash-mob style performance.

The event is beloved in Jackson Hole for a few reasons. Not only is it an excellent opportunity to don your best zombie makeup and attire, but no previous dance experience is required. Even if you think your dance skills are terrifying — and not in a good way — you’re welcome to join and explore some fun, joyful movement with other local zombies.

“Here’s your chance to learn (and perform!) the iconic Thriller at just the right time for Halloween!” says Kingwill. “We’ll break down the ghoulish moves for you during the first hour, making sure to have fun while getting things ‘down.’ After we know our stuff, we’ll head out and do several showings of it in the downtown area. What is there not to LOVE about Thriller? MJ? Zombies? Dancing? All three together is the magic mix for the most fun ever!”

“This will be my third time I think,” says participant Charlie Pike. “What’s more fun than a zombie flash mob? It’s an iconic dance, that’s easy enough to learn the basics for, and has amazing choreo. My cousins would torment me with the video as a kid, so it’s cathartic to be part of the zombie mob as an adult. ‘Cause this is Thriller, Thriller night…”

The workshop costs $20 (under 12 free), and pre-registration is encouraged. Visit the Dancers’ Workshop website to sign up. This event is open to everyone ages 5 and up, and masks are required during the in-studio portion of the evening. Come dressed in your finest zombie outfit and ready for a howling good time!
