PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Pinedale Aquatic Center is now taking registration for the second annual Pinedale Stampede Nordic Ski Race.
The event will take place on Saturday, February 27 at the nordic trail system adjacent to White Pine Ski Area in Pinedale. The freestyle nordic race will feature a 10k and 20k as well as a 6k race for recreational skiers and a youth scramble for those 11 and under.
The town of Pinedale and the Pinedale Aquatic Center are happy to bring another competitive race to Pinedale, making use of the miles of wonderful, groomed nordic trails in the area around White Pine Ski Area.
This year’s ski race will feature a 6k race on the flats, plus 10k and 20k races that climb and wind through the trees, offering a good challenge to advanced skiers. Registration is open now and limited to the first 100 racers. All competitors will receive swag from great local sponsors!
For this year, care will be taken in staggering starts, providing ample room for competitors and spectators to spread out and requiring masks when indoors as well as when social distancing is impractical.
Parking for the race will be at White Pine Ski Area in the foothills of the Wind River Range. White Pine is a wonderful, family-friendly resort that is open for downhill sports and provides food and drink.
In addition, there are free-to-the-public groomed fat bike trails nearby courtesy of Geared Up bike shop, as well as dog and snowshoe friendly trails in the Kelly Park ski system south of White Pine.
The event is brought to you by the Pinedale Aquatic Center, Pinedale’s amazing recreation center that features two pools, a water slide and a climbing wall among other amenities. Racers will get free admission to the center on the day before and day of the race and are encouraged to bring their families to enjoy all that Pinedale has to offer.
