WILSON, Wyo. — The Teton Pines Country Club celebrated its canine members with its own dog show over the weekend.

The second annual event went down on Saturday, Sept. 2, and saw 27 dogs compete in such categories as “waggiest tail,” “best fetch,” “best costume,” “senior competitor” and more.

Teton Pines’ Wellness and Activities Director Jeffrey Cisneros said the dog show is a big favorite among country club members. He initially conceived of a similar event in his position at a country club in Carmel, Calif.

Instead of focusing on traditional dog show metrics like size and coat quality, Cisneros said, these judges (all staff members at the club) were instead evaluating a dog’s “ability to create smiles” and gauging reactions from the crowd.

Cisneros brings his own Standard Poodle to the show and uses him for demonstrations.

Winner of this year’s “Best in Show” title was Milo, a 7-year-old Wheaten Terrier from the Haghani family.

“Milo showed out this year,” Cisneros said. “He was on point. He was super focused and dapper.”

Winners from each year’s show will be commemorated on a plaque displayed in the club, alongside winners from the club’s other popular events like the Turkey Trot and Most Valuable Skier contests.

“Each time it happens, members say they can’t wait until next year,” Cisneros said.
