Update: Just before 4 p.m. WYDOT reopened Teton Pass in both directions. Chain Law Level 1 is in effect. The impact level is rated “high,” meaning motorists should use extreme caution, delay travel or consider an alternate route. If travel is necessary, slow down and allow extra time, says WYDOT.

WILSON, Wyo. — As of 7:08 a.m., Teton Pass is closed due to avalanche activity.

According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) there is no anticipated time for reopening.

“Numerous small bank slides have come down on the roadway and have rendered it unpassable,” said WYDOT. “Crews are actively working to clear traffic so they can clean up the debris.”

Highway travelers and backcountry users are advised to plan accordingly.
