GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — Snow recreation is ramping up in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP).

The GTNP Foundation announced this week that winter grooming on Teton Park Road begins on Friday, Jan. 9. This will allow cross-country skiers, snowshoers and pedestrians to enjoy Teton views from the 14-mile stretch of groomed roadway from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge.

Grooming is scheduled to take place through mid-March every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, depending on weather. Operations were slightly delayed this season due to the slow start to winter weather.

Recreationists are reminded that parking is available at both ends of the route.

“The Taggart Lake parking area often fills early on weekends, so consider parking near Signal Mountain Lodge on the north end to help avoid congestion,” the foundation posted to social media this week. “Recreate responsibly: be prepared, check conditions, leave no trace, and give wildlife plenty of space!”
