DRIGGS, Idaho — Get ready to chant, “Let’s go, Timberwolves!” In preparation of the new school year, Teton High School is inviting all students and families to participate in the first annual Teton Tailgate on Friday, August 19 at 5:30 p.m. The tailgate will take place on the school’s football field.
Teton High School Athletic Director David Joyce told Buckrail that the event will be a kickoff to the fall sports season.
“We’re trying to gather the community together to recognize the fall sports teams in a fun, laidback environment,” Joyce said.
Joyce said that the tailgate will mainly be a time to hang out with neighbors, students, teachers and friends. People are encouraged to bring their grill and free food will be offered.
Family fun activities will include face painting, a dunk tank, jousting pit and a bouncy house. The National Guard will also come to set up its professional level obstacle course. Families can enter a raffle. A live band and dance performances will help muster up the student body’s school spirit.
During the last hour of the tailgate, all of the fall sports team will scrimmage on their respective athletic fields. The football players will show off their skills during a punt, pass and kick competition on the field.
The event is also a food drive for the Teton Valley Food Pantry. To be admitted to the tailgate, bring an individual serving of a packaged item that will be donated to the pantry. Donated items can include a serving of soup, pasta, mac and cheese, fruit cups, granola bars, ramen noodles, etc.
