JACKSON, Wyo. — While Teton County hovers in the Yellow (Low) Risk Level for COVID-19, cases have increased by 83% in the last two weeks, according to metrics from The New York Times.Â
Between Aug. 1 and Aug 2., a spike of 17 cases was reported in Teton County.
On tracking COVID-19 in Teton County, Wyo., The Times wrote that “cases have increased recently and are very high. The number of hospitalized COVID patients has also risen in the Teton County area.”
The county has seen a 43% increase in hospitalizations within the last 14 days and a test positivity increase of 3%.
With deaths remaining at about the same level and the test positivity rate in Teton County relatively low, statistics suggest that testing capacity is adequate for evaluating COVID-19 spread in the area explained The Times.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, at least 1 in 6 residents have been infected, a total of 3,914 reported cases. Right now, Teton County is at a very high risk for unvaccinated people,” said The Times.
The report noted that a trend in deaths tends to lag weeks behind the trend in reported cases, meaning with cases having recently increased in Teton, a rise in deaths is likely to follow in the weeks ahead.
According to St. John’s Daily Updates, as of Aug. 3, one laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and four laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients are in the Primary Care Unit (PCU). This is a slight increase from just three days ago when there were no COVID-19 patients in the ICU at St. John’s.
Teton County is the most vaccinated county in the state with 74% of its population fully vaccinated. Due to very high COVID-19 transmission in Teton County right now, unvaccinated people are at a very high risk. Vaccinated people are at minimal risk.
