JACKSON, Wyo. — In Wyoming and across the country, Americans are suffering from the reality and threat of food insecurity due to rising costs, supply chain issues and inflation.

To meet the need of the times, One22 Resource Center (One22) has opened an additional satellite cupboard at the Teton County Library.

“The Cupboard at the Library ensures folks have access to enough items for a meal or two, anytime the Library is open,” says One22 Executive Director Sharel Lund.

This new venture is similar to One22’s partnership with the Jackson/Teton County Recreation Center’s satellite cupboard, which has been scaled back while the Rec Center is under construction. One22 also enhanced a long-time existing Cupboard at Pioneer Homestead, providing fixed-income seniors in our community with healthy, nutritious food from One22 and Hole Food Rescue.

The satellite cupboards complement the program’s full selection of groceries and household items available through customized pre-orders. Providing food and grocery supplies in creative and meaningful ways is essential to caring for the dignity of the community members accessing groceries from each cupboard.

The Library, Rec Center and Pioneer Homestead are hubs in the valley for many people who work and live in Teton County.

Additionally, One22 recently received an infrastructure grant from First Lady Jennie Gordon’s Wyoming Hunger Initiative to purchase a new commercial refrigerator and other supplies for the library cupboard. A refrigerator is critical to stock fresh food such as produce, milk and eggs, all essential items for a family and a person’s overall diet needs, says One22.

“We are grateful for the Wyoming Hunger Initiative and their mission to end hunger in Wyoming and provide support to like-minded organizations throughout our state,” says Lund.

Satellite cupboards are open at the Library and Rec Center during their operating hours. As of March 2022, the Jackson Cupboard has moved to a digital, no-cost grocery shopping platform called SmartChoice. Please contact them if you need assistance placing your order at 307-739-4500.

A collaborative community food calendar highlighting daily options for meals and groceries throughout the valley is available at one22jh.org, and in printed form at each satellite food cupboard.
