JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Fair announced that Dan Toro has been selected to paint the western heritage mural for the new Teton County Fairgrounds Community Building.
Toro is based in Laramie, and will paint the mural this April. On Thursday, May 23rd, all community members are invited to join for the unveiling of the mural at the Chamber Mixer in the Community Building from 5 to 7 p.m.

Toro proposed a realistic portrayal of the western landscape with a warm and inviting color scheme. His vast experience and attention to detail in his site-specific concept, contributed to his selection. A panel of community stakeholders and people with deep ties to the Teton County Fair and Fairgrounds reviewed all artist submissions and narrowed the pool to three finalists before choosing Toro through a thorough process facilitated by Jackson Hole Public Art.
When asked about this project, Toro stated, “I really enjoy getting to create images that can make a community excited or at least find a way to make an unnoticed area more interesting. I would love to do the same for your fairgrounds.”
The refurbished Community Building offers a large event room, kitchen and medium-sized meeting room. The western heritage mural will be installed on the interior wall between the kitchen and the event room, approximately 68 feet wide by 20 feet tall in size.

The Fair Office is now accepting reservations for public and private events in the building. Interested community members may inquire at the Fair Office located at 305 W. Snow King Ave. or visit the Fair and Fairgrounds website. Rental applications are available in English and Spanish and can be submitted online or in-person at the Fair Office.
“We are grateful to the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board and the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund for providing the funds to make this project a reality for the Fairgrounds Community Building,” Teton County Fair and Fairgrounds Manager Rachel Grimes said. “We are excited to be able to highlight our community’s western culture and the long-standing heritage of the Fair and Fairgrounds through the artistic vision in Toro’s mural.”
