JACKSON, Wyo. — With the arrival of new precipitation, moderate avalanche danger exists in the Tetons as of Thursday, March 13, according to the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center‘s (BTAC) daily forecast.
“Incoming snow today with moderate south/southwest wind will create unstable new snow and increase avalanche danger throughout the day,” BTAC writes. “Triggering avalanches around a foot deep will be possible on wind loaded terrain by this evening. Pay attention to the amount of new snow accumulation and active snow transport by the wind throughout your travels while assessing the new snow stability across different aspects.”
Buckrail Meteorologist Alan Smith expects to see more snowfall in the region in the next one to two weeks, so keep an eye on evolving conditions when planning a backcountry adventure.
