JACKSON, Wyo. — A global tech outage has impacted travelers across the globe, including those attempting to come and go from the Jackson Hole Airport on Friday, July 19.
“Due to third party technical issues, various airlines are impacted,” the Jackson Hole Airport said in a statement. “Please check with your carrier before leaving for JAC.”
The airport also encourages those with travel plans to keep track of their flight status as listed on the JAC website. A quick glance at its arrival and departure boards indicate the scope of Friday’s delays.
According to the Associated Press, the tech disruptions are the result of a faulty software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, affecting computers that run Microsoft Windows.
FlightAware, a website tracking real-time flight data, indicates that more than 6,000 flights within, into or out of the United States have been delayed, and more than 2,000 have been canceled. Those numbers climb to 31,000 delays and 3,500 cancellations globally.
