JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) shared that it was mobilized on Sunday, Sept. 8, to assist an injured mountain biker on Teton Pass.

A 15-year-old from Idaho had crashed her bike while coming down the Parallel trail, which is located between Old Pass Road and WY22. According to TCSAR, the cyclist fell into a steep, rocky gully after having trouble getting around a corner.

TCSAR volunteers approached on foot via Old Pass Road and the highway. To retrieve her, volunteers placed the patient in a litter and used ropes to lift her out of the gully, raising her about 100 yards. Once she was back on the trail, the volunteers affixed a wheel onto the bottom of the litter so they could roll her out to a pullout on WY22, about a quarter of a mile away. The patient was transferred to a waiting Jackson Hole Fire/EMS ambulance. TCSAR said the mission was completed in a two hours and nine minutes.
