JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) has shared that its volunteers had an active weekend, responding to four calls.

Three calls mobilized the agency on Saturday, March 8, with a fourth call coming in on Sunday, March 9, according to TCSAR’s Facebook post. Saturday’s missions began with a 10:43 a.m. call from Ski Patrol to assist an injured male skier on Pucker Face, outside of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. A TCSAR helicopter team located the patient, and he was short-hauled to a waiting ambulance at the base of Teton Village.

Next, a 2:45 p.m. call from Grand Teton National Park’s Jenny Lake Rangers requested helicopter assistance for an injured male skier in Stewart’s Draw. The TCSAR helicopter took off again, short-hauling the skier out of the backcountry.

After that, a rescue call for a snowmobiler in the Togwotee Pass area came in at 5:43 p.m. TCSAR wrote that the “local male had been crossing a snow bridge on his machine when the snow collapsed beneath him, causing him and the machine to fall into a creek.”

Four TCSAR volunteers headed up Gros Ventre Road on snowmobiles as another team entered the backcountry from Togwotee Pass, according to the agency. One of the stranded snowmobiler’s friends also participated in the rescue, arriving at the incident site at 11:35 p.m., followed by the TCSAR team half an hour later.

“The subject was reported to be extremely tired and cold,” TCSAR wrote in its post.

The volunteers transported the snowmobiler out of the backcountry, making it back to headquarters around 3:45 a.m.

On Sunday, another call from the Jenny Lake Rangers came in at 1:40 p.m. regarding an injured female skier in Avalanche Canyon. The TCSAR helicopter was dispatched with a pilot to pick up a team of rangers, who short-hauled the patient out of the backcountry, after which she “self-transported,” TCSAR wrote.
