JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) was mobilized on Wednesday, Jan. 31, to assist two injured snowmobilers south of town, the agency shared on social media.

TCSAR received a distress call from Granite Creek on Wednesday afternoon, the agency said. The helicopter was dispatched along with two snowmobile teams to locate the injured parties. The team discerned that a man and a woman had been riding a snowmobile together when their sled went off the trail and crashed.

The 55-year-old man had “extensive injuries” and was loaded onto the helicopter for transport to the TCSAR hangar, where he was transferred to a waiting Jackson Hole Fire/EMS ambulance.

The woman sustained minor injuries, according to the agency. She chose to ride their snowmobile back to the trailhead with TCSAR’s snowmobile teams.
