JACKSON, Wyo. \u2014 Teton County Search and Rescue extracted a 25-year-old local man from the Brush Creek area near Triangle X Ranch today. The sledder rode off of a roughly 30-foot cliff and landed on a flat area, said TCSAR Chief Advisor Cody Lockhart. He suffered a back injury. Friends in the party say it was an accident. Other people in his party called for help at around 10 a.m. Weather prevented the helicopter from being able to fly at first, so SAR sent a ground crew on five snowmobiles who was able to get to the scene and begin packaging and offering medical treatment. The helicopter made two attempts to reach the patient. After turning around for a refuel and finding a clear weather window, the heli pilot was able to make it at around 2:30 p.m. The patient was lifted to the TCSAR hanger, where he was transported via ambulance to St. John's Medical Center. Lockhart said he seemed "in relatively good spirits," and was able to move. He does not know more about the snowmobiler's condition. This story has been updated with information from witnesses.
