JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Jackson Hole Public Art announced a temporary downtown mural walk with live installations taking place during Palates & Palettes on Friday night, the kick-off event of the Fall Arts Festival.
Stickum UP Jackson! Will feature artists Borbay, Joshua Doolittle, Jenny Dowd, Walt Gerald, Katy Fox, Havoc Hendricks, Jina Kim, Sophie Stoessel, Scotty Craighead, and Cal Brackin. Installations begin Friday evening, September 7 with works on display through September 22.
JH Public Art invited artists to submit 2-5 high-resolution images of recent work to choose from. Participating businesses and building owners agreed to display wheat-paste images on brick or concrete walls. JH Public Art will powerwash the images off the walls after September 22. In addition to wheat paste murals, artist Havoc will paint a custom mural on a large trailer behind the Antler Inn, while artist Joshua Doolittle will create his masterpiece using tape on the Town Enclosure Pavilion.
Mural locations include the Town Enclosure Pavilion at the Center for the Arts, the Antler Inn, High County Outfitters, Shirt Off My Back, Eddie Bauer, Trio, Grand Fine Art, the Elks Club, and the alley adjacent to Gaslight Alley. Printed maps will be available at each site on Friday night, or you can find JH Public Art at Old Bill’s Fun Run on Saturday morning to get your map to enjoy a self-guided tour.
The idea for Stickum Up came from Cal Brackin, JH Public Art’s project manager and a local artist keen to get a mural program started in Jackson. Murals activate alleyways with art that is fun and accessible to all, and that helps revitalize overlooked and mundane spaces. Stickum Up is a temporary installation designed to test community response to murals in the downtown.
