JACKSON, WY— Contemporary Dance Wyoming’s performances are a perfect mix of stimulating dance and spellbinding music. Here are four reasons you need to make this event part of your weekend plans.

  1. Indulge your curiosity! Have you seen those pictures of CDW dancers in candy-bright costumes with exotic eyelashes? Out of this imagery emerges movement that is at times gestural, aggressively elastic and loaded with personal meaning. Come see these hardworking artists perform. The combination of visual and auditory stimuli grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go.
  1. Experience the convergence of live music and dance. While you may know him from local bands Benyaro or Whiskey Mornin’, you may not know that Leif Routman thrives on creating experimental music. Music fans will be impressed by out-of-the-box jams that support and help define the inner landscape of the dancers. Fellow musician and percussionist Shawn Fleming adds a grounding textural component to the score. Chase away those post-Flaming Lips blues. No, confetti will not drop from the ceiling, but these performers will not disappoint in their eccentricity.
  1. Resist mediocrity… don’t fall into Jackson’s non-committal trap. Break your usual routine, and come for a performance like no other!
  1. Show some local pride and support your hometown, professional dancers with Contemporary Dance Wyoming! Company members Francesca Romo, Michaela Ellingson, Luke Dakota Zender, Marissa Moeri, Kate Kosharek look forward to performing for the community! Guest artists Sarah Stanley and Daniel Staaf, performers at Punchdrunk’s production Sleep No More in New York City, will share the program and open the performance before CDW takes the stage.

Four chances to see the magic:

Friday, June 15 at 6 pm and 8 pm

Saturday, June 16 at 6 pm and 8 pm

All performances are in Dancers’ Workshop Studio 1 on the second floor of The Center.
