St. John’s Health Foundation receives $120,000 from Stripping for a Cure

JACKSON, Wyo. — Stripping for a Cure presented the St. John’s Health Foundation with a check for $120,000 to support the Women’s Health Care Fund and the Cancer Survivorship Program.

“We are so grateful for this gift, especially since it is from women who want to help other women in our community,” said Foundation president John Goettler.

The funds are derived from generous community participation in the 2021 Stripping for a Cure event. In late August, 65 female anglers armed with pink flies joined together for a day of fly fishing on various stretches of the Snake River and over 225 community members supported the cause by donating to the online event.

Stripping for a Cure is an annual celebration of women, fly fishing and philanthropy bringing female anglers together to raise funds for the St. John’s Health Foundation.

“We are filled with gratitude for our generous community and their unwavering support. Cancer touches everyone in one way or another and we are thrilled to be able to contribute to a cause that affects so many,” said Stripping for a Cure Executive Director Blair Loughrie.

St. John’s Health Foundation’s Women’s Health Care Fund provides support to women who need preventive health services but cannot afford them; who need support for travel to medical treatments; or who are undergoing active treatment and need supplemental funds for items like childcare, groceries, and medicine.

The Cancer Survivorship Program at St. John’s Health provides expanded and affordable services to help cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and family members cope and heal from the challenges that can result from cancer and its treatments. St. John’s Health Foundation provided initial funding for the program pilot, which offers holistic services to improve physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial wellbeing.
