JACKSON, Wyo. — Public access to the South Park Wildlife Habitat Management Area will be interrupted by road work surrounding the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s (WGFD) Jackson Housing Project, the agency announced Tuesday.
Improvements to the South Park Feedground Road will lead to road closures in two different phases, WGFD said. The first phase begins on Monday, Aug. 19, when work will focus on grading operations and the replacement of two cattle guards. That phase is expected to be completed by Thursday, Aug. 22.
The second phase will begin on Sept. 3 and is expected to be finished by Sept. 6. On these days, crews will pave the road to the Jackson Housing Project as well as the road along the housing units.
While work is underway, the turnoff onto South Park Feedground Road from US89 will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians. Signs will be posted to alert people to the closure.
To access the wildlife habitat management area during the closures, use the southern entrance at the Von Gontard Landing Public Access area, located about six miles south of town.
