WILSON, Wyo. – Rendezvous “R” Park will kick off the summer season with its annual Solstice Celebration this Friday, the Jackson Hole Land Trust announced Wednesday.
Festivities run from 4 to 7 p.m., including live music by MOJO (Missy Jo and Joe Rudd), bilingual yoga taught by Erwin Velasquez, kids activities provided by JH Public Art, face painting by Voices JH and wildlife identification instruction by EcoTours. Kayak and paddle boards will be on hand courtesy of Rendezvous River Sports.
Revelers can enjoy free StreetFood tacos (while supplies last) and $3 Highpoint ciders, as well as a raffle for a half-day guided wildlife tour with EcoTour Adventures. Snake River Roasting Co. sponsors this annual event. R Park is the first non-profit-run park in Teton County, supported by WYLD; WYLD members will be treated to free drinks at this event.
Summer solstice events are especially welcome this year after the particularly drizzly June Wyomingites have endured. In the northern hemisphere, the June solstice marks the start of the summer season; depending on one’s location, it occurs between June 20 and June 22 annually. Solstice celebrations have long been part of Wyoming’s indigenous culture, as well.
