JACKSON, Wyo. — Snow King Ave. between Flat Creek Drive and Scott Lane will be milled and repaved starting on Monday, Sept. 22, the Town of Jackson (TOJ) announced Wednesday.

Work is expected to continue through Friday, Sept. 26, with striping scheduled for the following week. The road work will be completed in two phases, starting with milling from Flat Creek to Virginian Lane followed by the segment from Virginian Lane to Scott Lane. Paving will happen next, in the same order.

“Snow King Avenue is the second most travelled east-west connector in Town,” the announcement states. “For years, the Town has patched pavement on section of this corridor to maintain it, resulting in a piecemeal surface, which becomes more challenging to maintain each year. Updates to this street fall within the Town’s annual streets plan. [The upcoming] milling and paving process will restore the whole of Snow King Avenue’s surface instead of just a part of it, further extending the road’s lifespan before more permanent improvements can be made.”

Drivers should expect to use alternate routes next week, per TOJ. Local vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians will be allowed to access the road while work is underway, and sidewalks will remain open.

“The Town asks that residents and businesses minimize trips on this corridor from September 22-26,” the statement reads. Drivers are encouraged to use Broadway between Scott Lane and Flat Creek Drive as a detour. Those who must use Snow King are asked to travel slowly and to follow directions from contractors and construction crews.

TOJ noted that it will work with START Bus and the Teton County School District to adjust bus service if necessary.

“Thank you to residents in the area and community members, in advance, for your patience and understanding as the Town continues to maintain our community’s infrastructure,” the announcement states.
