YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — On Sunday, Nov. 17, Yellowstone National Park (YNP) shared photos of river otters in an appreciation post for their thick, dense fur that keeps them warm during the icy winters.
According to YNP, river otter fur is waterproof as they are the most aquatic member of weasel family. River otters can swim underwater up to six miles per hour, for two to three minutes at a time.
YNP lets visitors know that winter is a “fantastic time” to watch otters play along river edges.
