WILSON, Wyo. — Wilson’s hottest event of the season went down on Sunday, July 21, drawing dozens upon dozens of hungry people to Rendezvous Park for the 57th Annual Chicken Fry.
Dean Jarvie, board member of the Wilson Fire Dept. Association, told Buckrail that the team served up 2,200 pounds of chicken and 1,000 pounds of potatoes for somewhere in the ballpark of 2,500 guests. Operations began at 6 a.m. Sunday morning to prepare for the big event.

Money raised at the annual event is used to maintain and purchase equipment for Firehouse 2 in Wilson.

Volunteers scooped out servings of Dutch oven potatoes and other dishes from gigantic serving vessels, including garbage cans.

Attendees of all ages filled R Park to the gills, tucking picnic setups into every bit of shade. Temperatures climbed into the 80s on Sunday afternoon.

Derrik and the Dynamos even played a song about the event.
Until next year, Chicken Fry!
