JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Many in the valley mark the arrival of spring by the first appearance of a robin. News of bears waking from hibernation starts spring for others. Or maybe you’re just a by-the-book springer, who acknowledges the season’s arrival only when the calendar says we’ve entered into the astronomical spring equinox.
For ranchers, springtime in the Rockies usually begins when the first calf hits the ground. Spring is in full swing here in Jackson Hole with robins, bluebirds, and several slick newborns on the Hereford Ranch.
