JACKSON, Wyo. — Shed hunters took to the hills early Monday morning as horn hunting season opened in Teton County.

A long motorcade stretching from Flat Creek to Virginian Lane on Snow King Avenue. The motorcade was escorted by the Jackson Police Department through the Town of Jackson to Elk Refuge Road at 6 a.m.

The area is a hot spot for shed hunters because of its close proximity to the National Elk Refuge. The area of Curtis Canyon Road is closed from Dec. 1 through April 30 each year to protect wintering wildlife. Thousands of elk pass through the area on their way to the Elk Refuge winter feedgrounds.
