JACKSON, Wyo. — These frigid temperatures have made for some scenic photo opportunities.
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer recently came across this moose meandering among pristine, frost-covered trees and vegetation.

This particular moose appears to have shed a rack of antlers, suggested by the circular marking between its ear and eye. According to the National Park Service, moose typically shed their antlers in December or January, although young bulls can retain their antlers as late as March. Shedding heavy antlers can help moose conserve energy and ease winter survival. New antlers will begin to grow in April or May.
