JACKSON, Wyo. — 2024 is ready to take flight.
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer spotted a great blue heron in the area and snapped some photos of the regal bird perched in an aspen tree.

According to Grand Teton National Park, these birds are known to build large nests along the Snake River and within and around the park.

These are the largest herons on the continent, with the ability to reach up to five feet in height. They feed on small fish, insects, rodents, amphibians, reptiles and even other birds.
