JACKSON, Wyo. — The sun was out on Saturday for the Old West Days parade, which drew quite a crowd to Town Square and surrounding streets.

The weeklong festivities are sometimes dubbed “Old Wet Days,” due to the likelihood of spring showers. The final weekend saw a few raindrops on Sunday, but remained mostly dry throughout. Saturday brought blue skies, sunshine and temps in the high 60s.

The Jackson Police Department’s Citizens Mounted Unit, made up entirely of volunteers, participated in the Best of the West parade. According to a Facebook post by the brigade, the riders go first in the parade to clear and patrol intersections, where they stay throughout the procession. “As the parade goes by, we fall in to the last position and ride the route and become part of the parade,” the post reads.

Down the street at the Jackson Hole Land Trust Green Space, a group of history buffs from Star Valley put on a reenactment of fur trapper and early settler life. According to the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, Wagons and Tales held demonstrations and hands-on activities like rope making, candle dipping, log cutting and broom making.
