JACKSON, Wyo. — With a very dry January all wrapped up, and little to no snow in the forecast, some valley residents have been soaking up the sun on the groomed cross-country ski tracks in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP).

Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer brought his camera out to the park to capture the action under the Tetons.

The groomed track has lanes for classic cross-country skiing, skate skiing, and multi-use such as walking, snowshoeing or skiing with leashed pets.

After a slow and warm start to winter, grooming of the ski track was delayed until early January. The GTNP Foundation told Buckrail that there must be 12 inches of snow on the ground for the groomer to work efficiently.

Two weeks ago, a tourist was cited for skirting the gates and driving a rental car on the track before getting stuck in the snow. The grooming machine was able to maneuver around the car while it remained on the track for a couple of days.
