JACKSON, Wyo. — Did everyone have the same idea this morning?
After receiving a few new inches of snow Monday night, it appears that some skiers are itching to get out to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Westbound traffic heading out of Jackson on WY22 Tuesday morning was unusually congested.
Stay safe out there, everyone. Remember to use the zipper merge at the Y intersection. Plus, the new snow has brought increased avalanche concern in the Tetons.
“Heightened avalanche conditions exist,” the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center predicted Tuesday morning. “New snow and wind have formed soft slabs up to a foot deep above 9,000 feet. You will likely trigger avalanches on steep wind drifted slopes where unstable snow will be sensitive to the weight of a rider. Drifting snow and shooting cracks are indicators of unstable snow. Make conservative decisions around steep slopes and terrain traps.”
