JACKSON, Wyo. — Elk wintering in Jackson are packing it up for the season and seeking higher ground.
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer has captured some eye-catching snapshots of the elk beginning their spring migration.
The National Elk Refuge shared an end-of-season update this week, noting that approximately 6,800 elk spent time on the refuge this winter.
As snow melts around the valley, elk are departing the refuge and trekking away from town. Drivers should be cautious of elk crossing roads.
