JACKSON, Wyo. — If you’re walking around Jackson today and wondering what that “braaap” sound is, chances are you’re hearing snowmobilers as they fight their way up the 1,500 ft verticle rise to the top of Snow King Mountain Resort for the 44th Annual World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb.
Last year, the Hill Climb was the first event to be canceled in the town of Jackson due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is scheduled for March 25 through March 28 at the base of Snow King Mountain. This will be the 44th annual hill climb.
Originally, the event was approved with an attendance limit within the venue at any given time of 1,000 spectators. According to current statewide Health order #2, outdoor gatherings allow for no more than 50% of the venue capacity with a maximum of 2,000 people. Health order #2 also outlines conditions that must be enforced by the host or organizer of the event including social distancing of 6 feet, masks, protective equipment for staff, and food and beverage provisions. Editor’s note: due to Teton County moving back up to COVID risk-level ‘orange’ or ‘moderate’, the event is now capped at 500 people.
Spectators can visit the concession stands and snowmobile brand tents at the bottom of the mountain for food, drinks, and a glimpse of the latest snowmobile gear and technology.
