JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Police have been investigating a case involving misappropriated funds since September and were finally able to release more information yesterday.
A former bookkeeper for the Jackson Hole Shrine Club has been under investigation in connection with money missing from the organization totaling more than $75,000. The funds went missing over the course of seven years between 2010-2017.
The bookkeeper, who has not been formally charged as yet, has taken responsibility for unauthorized transactions without admitting guilt. An intensive forensic accounting investigation is still underway to determine what money went missing and when.
The Prosecution’s Office is still considering filing charges. Restitution has been offered by the unidentified man, but to what amount is unclear. A civil case could also be initiated by the Shrine Club.
Buckrail has learned the identity of the man who no longer is associated with the Shrine Club but has made the decision to withhold his name at this time as he has not been formally charged.
The Shriners put on the annual cutter races every February as its main fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
