JACKSON, Wyo. — Heads up! The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for a number of counties in both Wyoming and Idaho, including both Teton Counties.

The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, with the potential for serious hail, lightning and wind gusts.

Wyoming counties under the watch are Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs, Lincoln, Park, Sublette, Sweetwater, Teton and Washakie. Idaho counties are Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Bonneville, Caribou, Franklin, Fremont, Madison, Oneida and Teton.

In Jackson, temperatures are forecasted to swing from a high of 75 to a low of 42 tonight. Scattered gusts of wind could reach 70 mph in some areas under the weather watch, along with hail “up to ping-pong size,” per the weather service. Expect lighting, potentially frequently.

Buckrail Meteorologist Alan Smith predicted this level of disturbance. Smith forecasts a drier climate for the rest of June once tonight’s storms pass.
