YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — On Friday, Secretary Deb Haaland and Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks Shannon Estenoz will travel to Yellowstone National Park to tour the damage caused by major flooding events that occurred in June.

Haaland and Estenoz will also assess the progress that has been made to restore access to the park. A media conference will be held at the Old Faithful Visitor and Education Center on Friday, July 8 at 9:30 a.m. MST.

Following historic floods in the northern section of the park, Yellowstone swiftly reopened the north loop on July 2. The park continues its efforts to recover its infrastructure from the damage caused by storms.

“We’re pleased to reopen the north loop of Yellowstone to the visiting public less than three weeks after this major flood event,” said Superintendent Cam Sholly. “We have attempted to balance major recovery efforts while reopening as much of the park as possible. We have greatly appreciated the tremendous support of the Department of the Interior; National Park Service; Federal Highway Administration; and our congressional, community, county and state partners.”
