JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Yellowstone officials have upped the ante in searching for lost hiker Jeff Murphy. The 53-year-old Illinois man did not return from an intended day hike up Rescue Creek trailhead in northern Yellowstone NP Wednesday morning.
Today, the park deployed eight hiking teams, five dog teams, four horse teams, and a helicopter to continue the search for Murphy.
- The person, Jeff Murphy, is from Batavia, Illinois
- He is 53 years old, wears glasses, 5′ 11″ tall, 190 pounds
- May be wearing khaki pants, a yellow t-shirt, navy pullover, and an army green backpack
- He is likely wearing a gray jacket with a royal blue collar. On Thursday, June 8 we reported he might be wearing a green and gray rain jacket.
- Last known location was the Rescue Creek Trailhead, near Yellowstone’s North Entrance, at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7.
- He intended to hike for the day to Turkey Pen Peak.
