JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County School District No. 1 (TCSD) has announced that Dr. Scott Crisp will be superintendent following his stint as interim superintendent.

TCSD made the announcement on Friday, the last day of school before winter break, noting that the board of trustees’ decision was impacted by the results of a community-wide survey conducted by the Wyoming School Board Association. Crisp has been offered a two-year contract as permanent superintendent that runs through June 2028. He stepped into the interim role following the departure of former superintendent Gillian Chapman.

“In the six months in the interim position Dr. Crisp has exceeded our expectations and we look forward to having him at the helm of TCSD 1 as the superintendent,” Board Chairwoman Betsy Carlin said in the announcement. “The data made it clear the community felt our district was in a strong position and this decision allows us to remain headed in the same direction addressing small adjustments.”

Crisp has been with TCSD since 1998, when he started as a history teacher at Jackson Hole High School before eventually serving as its principal for 14 years. In 2021, he was named Wyoming Principal of the Year by the Wyoming Association of Secondary School Principals. Also on his resume: a year as the principal at Summit Innovations School and two years as the TCSD assistant superintendent of educational services.

“Public education is at the heart of strong communities, and I am honored to accept the Superintendent position in Teton County School District #1,” Crisp said in the announcement. “I am thankful for the confidence of the Board of Trustees and excited to continue serving a district that values collaboration, innovation, and care for every student. Our district’s strength lies in our people and our shared commitment to student success. I look forward to working closely with the Board, staff, families, and community to ensure our schools continue to evolve in ways that best serve every learner.”
