JACKSON HOLE, WYO — The Upper Snake River Basin Sage Grouse Working Group will hold its next meeting in Jackson next week.

The meeting will take place at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department Office in Jackson at 420 North Cache Street. It is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, from 1pm to 5pm on Tuesday, May 28,

Topics to be discussed at the meeting include:

  1. Discuss potential allocation of funds ($28,000) from the WGFD for sage grouse conservation in the Upper Snake River Basin sage grouse working group area.
  2. Lek counts for surveys April-May 2019 and what it means in terms of population trends and viability.
  3. Discussion of the Wyoming Greater Sage Grouse Adaptive Management Plan.

The group is one of eight regional working groups statewide. Each is composed of citizens representing groups interested in sage grouse conservation. The group develops and initiates conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and, when feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats.

The Bighorn Basin Sage Grouse Working Group is meeting May 30 from 10am to noon at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department regional office (2820 Hwy 120) in Cody.

The role of the groups is to develop and set in motion local conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and, whenever feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats. Groups will meet to review projects for funding in order to implement local conservation plans.
