TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — Texas singer-songwriter and crafty guitarist Vincent Neil Emerson strides the line between country and rock with Choctaw-Apache roots and a storytelling vibe of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Willie Nelson. Presented by local music promoter Old West Americana, Emerson takes stage with his band this Saturday at the Mangy Moose.

Prior to this tour, Emerson had been paying his dues as an opening act for roots country darlings Colter Wall and Charley Crockett. This show at the Mangy Moose is special in that it’s an opportunity to catch Emerson as a burgeoning headlining act in an intimate venue. A few tickets are still available. His forthcoming Shooter Jennings-produced release, The Golden Crystal Kingdom, was announced last month and is due Nov. 10. The first single “Little Wolf’s Invincible Yellow Medicine Paint” hit streaming services Sept. 21.

According to country hero Rodney Crowell (also the producer of Emerson’s debut album), “If he grows on the public the way he’s grown on me, it’s possible young Vincent will plant the flag of his [songwriting] forebears firmly in the consciousness of a whole new generation.”

Opening the show is Nashville-based, California native Logan Ledger has a melodramatic, retro country vibe ala Roy Orbison. T. Bone Burnett produced his 2023 sophomore album, Golden State, which covers a range of 60s pop, R&B and Laurel Canyon-esque country.

Old West Americana Presents Vincent Neil Emerson with guest Logan Ledger, 8 p.m. Saturday Oct. 21 at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village. $24. MangyMoose.com.
