JACKSON, Wyo. – What can students discover when Grand Teton National Park becomes their classroom for the weekend?
This fall, Teton Science Schools invites fourth and fifth-grade students to find out during Weekends in the Park, a three-day, two-night adventure filled with exploration, discovery, and time outdoors. Both program dates align with Teton County School District in-service days.
Weekends in the Park was created in partnership with Grand Teton National Park to offer accessible, locally rooted opportunities for students to spend meaningful time in the park while strengthening science literacy, curiosity, and connection to place. This collaborative program was made possible by the generous support of the Grand Teton National Park Foundation and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.
Animals on the move
Fall is an exciting time to explore how animals in the Tetons prepare for winter. Students will spend the weekend in Grand Teton National Park alongside scientists as they observe and investigate the shift from summer to fall.
Students will:
- Learn how animals adapt from summer to winter
- Spend an evening exploring the signs and sounds of wildlife in the park
- Research signs of the changing seasons across Grand Teton landscapes
- Share their findings and experiences with families during Sunday presentations
Program dates
- Fourth-grade: September 18–20, 2026
- Fifth-grade: October 16–18, 2026
Registration and financial assistance
Registration is $195 per student and includes lodging and meals.
Teton Science Schools wants every student to have the opportunity to join this adventure. Financial assistance is available, and families can request a scholarship during registration.
