JACKSON, Wyo. — Critical fire weather conditions continue across western Wyoming on Thursday, Aug. 14. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued another Red Flag Warning that includes all of Teton County and both national parks, in effect until 8 p.m.
NWS is observing low humidity coupled with above-normal temperatures and gusty winds, which could spell erratic fire behavior.
“Isolated storm chances as well with frequent lightning and stronger outflow winds the main hazards of concern,” NWS Riverton posted to Facebook Thursday morning.
Heightened fire danger exists in eastern Idaho, part of southern Montana, eastern Colorado and much of Utah.

Fire restrictions have been implemented all over the region in response to the presence of dry fuels. Teton County implemented stage 1 restrictions this week, which are also in place in Grand Teton National Park, the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the National Elk Refuge and in Yellowstone National Park. Teton County, Idaho, is under a burn ban.
According to Buckrail Meteorologist Alan Smith, “Teton County received virtually no rainfall during the first 12 days of August, which is a big change from the past few Augusts, which were quite wet (especially early in the month).”
