WYOMING – One big draw Wyoming has for summer travelers is its moderate summer temps. The same conservative thermometer readings that might scare some off in January has them flocking here in July.
But is it statistically valid? Is Wyoming really cooler than most every other state? Buckrail checked with 24/7 Wall Street’s “Hottest and Coldest States in the Summer” to make sure we are as cool as we think we are.
The Cowboy State has its hotspots for sure. Casper is the consistently warmest place in the state with average summer temps hovering around 67.2°F. Sheridan is home to the all-time high since 1980 with a blistering 107°F.
But overall, Wyoming’s 62.1°F average temperature in summer is good enough to put us near last place in the hottest states in the nation category. Only Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Alaska are colder during summer.
Hottest? Texas wins that one with an 81.3°F average summer temp and a 117°F recorded in Wichita Falls.
