JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Here are some recent calls for service in Teton County/Jackson from the dispatch log. Names may be withheld at the request of law enforcement. All persons cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filing from the Teton County Attorney’s Office.
March 5, 1:57 a.m.
Dispatchers aired a report of a drunk driver. Officer Gerlach was the first to find the vehicle and stopped it for not using its turn signal. When the female got out of her car, she smelled heavily of an alcoholic beverage—a margarita, she said. She performed poorly on her field sobriety testing, and Officer Gerlach had to arrest the 22-year-old Jackson woman for DUI.
There was also an intoxicated, underage 20-year-old passenger from Royal Oak, Michigan in the car who was cited and released for being a minor under the influence. Another intoxicated person in the vehicle received a courtesy ride to their hotel.
March 5, 4:00 a.m.
A man brought an intoxicated person to the parking lot of the jail. Turns out it was the 25-year-old who cops gave a ride to their motel from earlier in the evening. Cops dropped him off at the right place, but the man knocked on the wrong door and woke up some random stranger. The kindly stranger was worried about the man and brought him to the police station.
Police arrested the Driggs, Idaho man for Public Intoxication.
March 5, 2:57 p.m.
Officer Mattson seized cannabis edibles that were found by TSA in someone’s checked baggage. The person was given a warning and the drugs taken for destruction. The man in this instance was lucky. Officer Mattson could easily have arrested him.

A business called to report someone was using their store name from fraudulent bank accounts. This is an active investigation and police are still gathering information, so no more information is released at this time.
March 4, 12:55 a.m.
Sgt. Kellams stopped a vehicle for speeding. When he contacted the driver, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car. The man was also very nervous, but claimed he didn’t have any marijuana and that the odor was from him having just been at a party where it was being smoked. Sgt. Kellams wasn’t convinced the man was telling the truth and searched the vehicle. He located the 23-year-old Jackson man’s marijuana, wrote him a citation, and sent him on his way.
March 3, 1:47 a.m.
RO White responded to a report of Theft. A man reported the theft of money from his wallet. He claimed the wallet had never left his possession and he couldn’t explain how the money was stolen. RO White is trying to figure it out, but, so far, she hasn’t had any luck.
March 3, 3:20 p.m.
A person reported that their vehicle parked near a roof was damaged when a large amount of snow fell off the roof and onto their hood. That’s not actually a crime, but law enforcement documented the incident anyway for insurance purposes.
March 3, 4:25 p.m.
Cpl. P. Smith responded to a report of damaged property. It looks like two cab drivers got into an argument. During that argument, one of the cabs got damaged. Police don’t have any details as to how the damaged occurred because Cpl. P. Smith is still working on the report, but the damage appears to be minor.
March 3, 4:41 p.m.
Sgt. Phillips responded to a report of a disturbance at the liquor store. When he arrived, he learned that an intoxicated man had treated one of the clerks with less than the amount of respect she deserved and had been asked to leave by the manager. As it happened, this inebriated gentleman had a warrant for his arrest out of Lincoln County. Sgt. Phillips arrested the 32-year-old Alpine man on the warrant.
March 3, 2020, 7:38 p.m.
RO White was doing some foot patrol on the town square with her training officer, Cpl. Traphagan. While doing so, they smelled the odor of marijuana. Following their noses, the found that odor was coming from one particular female who was the only person in the area. That being the case, they made contact with the woman who admitted to having marijuana and gave them her pipe. They also recovered the rest of her marijuana concealed in a Pringles can. The 22-year-old Jackson woman was cited and released for possession of a controlled substance.
March 2, 2:31 a.m.
RO White stopped a vehicle for straddling the center line while driving down the road. When she contacted the driver, the driver appeared to be intoxicated. The 34-year-old Clover, South Carolina woman did poorly on her field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.
March 2, 3:55 a.m.
Officer Shreve responded to a report of a man who had followed the reporting person home. They’d apparently met at the bar and quickly became friends. Not good enough friends to be followed home, apparently. When Officer Shreve arrived, he found the very drunk man standing in the street. He attempted to find out where the man was staying in an attempt to help him get home. “Wyoming,” was his answer. The man couldn’t remember the name of his hotel either. That being said, Officer Shreve had to arrest the 26-year-old Jackson man for Public Intoxication.
March 1, 6:15 p.m.
Cpl. P. Smith responded to a report of a man passed out. He found the man, slouched over on a fence by a parking lot. The man was heavily intoxicated, appeared to have urinated on himself and was holding a nearly empty bottle of vodka. Putting all that together, Cpl. P. Smith decided the best thing to do was to arrest the 33-year-old Jackson man for Public Intoxication.
March 1
RO White responded to a report of a man refusing to leave the bar when asked. She arrived to investigate, but the man was angry, uncooperative, and refused to allow law enforcement to resolve whatever issue had gotten him kicked out. He was still refusing to leave. Police arrested the 33-year-old Victor man for Trespassing.
March 1
RO White responded to a report that a juvenile had taken their parent’s car without permission. RO White is still working on the reports, she was able to locate the juvenile and wrote that person tickets for not having a valid driver’s license and for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.
February 29
Officer Mattson responded to a report of a protection order violation. He learned that the victim had a protection order put in place, which was then almost immediately violated by the suspect. This report will be forwarded to the county attorney’s office for prosecution.
February 28
Officer Peery responded to a report of a sexual assault. It was a cold report, meaning it happened some time in the past. The investigation is active and still in its early stages, so police will not comment. Law enforcement is prohibited by Wyoming law from releasing any information that would identify the suspect or victim until this case gets to a certain point in the process. In some cases, that information may never become public.
February 28, 8:20 p.m.
Sgt. Ruschill responded to a report of a man passed out in the laundry room of a motel. He arrived and spoke to the man, who he found to be extremely intoxicated. The man was wearing nothing but a beanie and swim trunks. Sgt. Ruschill determined he was not a guest of the hotel and had been poaching the hot tub. Unfortunately, he was so intoxicated he couldn’t locate his clothing or other personal items. That being the case, Sgt. Ruschill had to arrest the 39-year-old Jackson man for Public Intoxication.
February 28, 11:39 p.m.
Sgt. Ruschill was doing a bar check at the Cowboy Bar when an employee turned over a small clear baggie containing a white powdery/crystalline substance.
February 29, 1:21 p.m.
Police were called to a complaint of multiple people parked in the Kmart parking lot who were not employees or customers. Rather than tow all 30 vehicles, parking enforcement officers were asked to issue parking tickets. If you were using this lot to store your vehicle longterm, or just temporarily to catch the bus, you’re going to have to find another solution. Kmart will start enforcing the, “Customer/Employee Parking Only” and “No Overnight Parking” signs they have posted by having the vehicles towed.
