Police Log: Recent calls for service

JACKSON, Wyo. Here are some recent calls for service in Teton County/Jackson from the dispatch log. Names may be withheld at the request of law enforcement. All persons cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filing from the Teton County Attorney’s Office. Incidents logged by the Jackson Police Department and posted here are written by department officers and edited only for grammar and style. 


WEEKLY PRESS LOG November 11-17, 2019

The police department handled 191 calls this week. The following resulted in reports:

19110908: On November 11, 2019, Corporal Faicco responded to Karns Meadow Drive for a report of a found wallet. The officer made a number of efforts in an attempt to contact the owner and return the property, but his efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.


19110985: On November 11, 2019, Corporal Traphagan and Officer Shreve were dispatched to a disturbance on West Deloney Street. It was reported a drunk female had attempted to punch the reporting person. Officers responded to the area but were not able to locate the suspect.


19110990: On November 11, 2019, Officer Shreve responded to the 600 block of West Broadway for a report of found property. A person who had previously been trespassed from the property had left their belongings behind. Officer Shreve took possession of the property for safe keeping.


19111045: On November 16, 2019, Officer Osmond responded to a report of fraud. It was learned the victim ordered a phone but had not received it. Officer Osmond is still investigating the case and no further information is available at this time.


19111111: On November 9, 2019, officers from the Jackson Police Department and Teton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an altercation involving an AR-15 rifle in front of the Mountain Modern Hotel. Officers responded and contained any threat and began an investigation.

The intoxicated subject with the rifle alleged he was walking home from the bar when he was assaulted by three unidentified males. He alleged they kicked and punched him, then threatened him with a pistol. The intoxicated subject then ran to his hotel, grabbed his unloaded rifle and attempted unsuccessfully to find the subjects that had threatened him in an effort to scare them with his weapon. His weapon was ultimately taken from him by friends when they were contacted by JH Security, who called law enforcement.

The intoxicated subject later told officers he did not actually see a pistol, but heard it being racked. The three men have not been located and this investigation is active.


1911133: On November 13, 2019, an Officer Raab responded to a report of Hit/Run on the 00 block of East Broadway. The victim reported his vehicle had been hit while parked and unoccupied on the town square. Officer Raab spent hours viewing video of the area in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle but hasn’t been successful.


19111159: On November 13, 2019, Corporal P. Smith made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a missing taillight on the 300 block of West Broadway. When he approached the driver’s side door, he could smell marijuana. The driver denied any knowledge of the marijuana odor.

Corporal P. Smith deployed his K-9 partner, Cigy, who alerted on the vehicle for the presence of drugs. Corporal P. Smith searched the interior of the vehicle and located a glass jar with a very small amount of marijuana.

Corporal P. Smith chose not to issue a citation for the offense.


19111258: On November 14, 2019, Officer C. Smith assisted Wyoming Probation and Parole with a home visit at an address on the 700 block of S. Hwy 89 for a person on probation. Using his police K-9, Sully, Officer C. Smith searched the residence and located a black plastic bag containing 3.74 grams of black tar heroin. As a result, a 31-year-old Jackson man was arrested for violating the terms of his probation and possession of heroin.


19111266: On November 15, 2019, at 2 a.m., Officer O’Donnell responded to the Wort Hotel for a report of an intoxicated, unresponsive male. Before he was able to get there, the intoxicated man got up and left, walking unsteadily away from the location. Officer O’Donnell quickly located the man and determined that he was, in fact, very intoxicated. The man was found to be on probation and was prohibited from consuming or possession alcohol.

Officer O’Donnell administered a portable breath test, with a result of .251%. Officer O’Donnell arrested the 45-year-old Jackson man for violating his probation and being publicly intoxicated.


19111370: On November 16, 2019, at 11:58 p.m., Corporal P. Smith observed a vehicle weaving inside and outside its lane of travel. He thought this was unsafe, so he pulled the vehicle over thinking the driver might be impaired. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, it pulled to the right, up onto the curb and onto the bike lane.

When Corporal P. Smith contacted the driver, he observed she appeared intoxicated. He administered the standard field sobriety tests and the driver did poorly. The driver also provided a portable breath test of .24%.

Corporal P. Smith arrested the 25-year-old Hoback woman for driving under the influence.


19111391: On November 16, 2019, Corporal Faicco and Officer Osmond responded to assist Wyoming Probation and Parole officers. When they arrived, they were asked to arrest the probationer for being in violation of his probation terms. The officers took the 42-year-old Jackson man to jail at the request of Wyoming Probation and Parole.


19111409: On November 16, 2019, a found cell phone was turned in to Corporal Faicco. He was not able to identify the owner of the phone.


19111423: On November 16, 2019, Officer Osmond responded to a report of an auto burglary on the 00 block of West Kelly. The victim reported that two wallets were taken out of an unlocked vehicle. This investigation is still active.


19111480: On November 17, 2019, at 3:30 p.m., Officer Gerlach responded to a disturbance near the intersection of Flat Creek and Coulter Avenue. When he arrived with other officers, one of the persons involved in the disturbance was no longer there. They were unable to locate this person and the investigation was unable to determine if a crime had been committed.
