Parks and Rec: All ice rinks closed, grooming efforts paused

JACKSON, Wyo. — Following yesterday’s warm temperatures and rain, the Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department announced all ice rinks are closed today, Dec. 28.

According to Parks and Rec, The ice is soft and there is standing water in some areas. Rinks were closed yesterday and last night as well.

Ice rinks will be closed again today..marginal temps and yesterday’s rain did a number. Looks like temperatures will cool throughout the day so we should be able to address tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

Parks and Rec also reported that conditions for grooming are “less than ideal.”

Grooming efforts up Cache Creek and at May Park this morning caused Parks and Rec to call off any more grooming at Game Creek and Three Creek to protect the integrity of the base. According to Parks and Rec, the base was completely saturated from yesterday’s rain and did not completely freeze last night.

Game creek and three creek will not be groomed today because of poor grooming conditions. My tracks are digging deep into the unfrozen saturated bases causing uneven surfaces and leaving track marks. I would caused more damage than good if I continued grooming today.
