JACKSON, Wyo. — It might be time to hang up the ice skates for the season.
The Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department announced Wednesday afternoon that warm temperatures have forced the closure of the Owen Bircher and Fairgrounds ice rinks.
“With above-average temperatures expected through the week, the rinks will remain closed indefinitely,” the statement reads. “Staff will continue to closely monitor conditions, though current assessments indicate this may signal the end of the season.”
The rinks had reopened less than a week ago amid a cold snap. The winter temperature rollercoaster has forced unexpected closures and reopenings for the rinks, including a late start to the rink season.
Hopeful skaters can monitor the department’s website and social media pages for updates.
