JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling (ISWR) will host the first ever Environmental Health and Hazards Open House Tuesday, May 8, from 4-7pm at the Recycling Center.
This event originated as a way to honor requests from the community for household hazardous waste appointments in the evenings, after the workday. These appointments are available this Tuesday only. Call 733-SORT or sign up online.
(Please note: Appointments are required if you are disposing of hazardous waste, but the public is welcome, without an appointment, to attend and participate in all other programming during the event.)
In addition to hazardous waste appointments, ISWR is keeping its doors OPEN LATE to accept electronics for recycling, to visit with customers about programs and services, and to provide information on reducing, reusing, recycling and composting on the Road to Zero Waste.
All of this is happening as part of Teton County’s Spring Clean Up week, which runs May 7-12, and promotes local composting of organic materials. Free yard waste bags will be available at the event.
ISWR is also excited to feature the following organizations in a partnership to provide comprehensive information on safe disposal and waste prevention programs:
- The Teton Conservation District will provide information on Trout Friendly Lawns, the Clean Water Coalition and the Septic Maintenance Cost-Share program;
- Teton County Weed and Pest will offer guidance on an integrated approach to weed and pest control, including prevention, biocontrols, source reduction, and cultural controls;
- The Teton County Health Department will be highlighting the Medication Donation and Sharps Disposalprograms; and
- The Community Prevention Coalition of Teton County will advise on safe medication disposal.
